ANTHEM (11:10) “No
Greater Gift” Music and Text Adaptation
(1 Cor. 13) by Ruth Elaine Schram
Alfred Publishing, CCLI License # 893979
Though I speak the language
of angels, though I know all there is
to know, if I have no love, I am nothing
at all. There is no gift greater than
love. And though I understand every mystery,
and my faith could remove any mountain,
if I have no love, I am nothing at all.
There is no gift greater than love. Love
is kind and gentle, rejoicing in the truth.
Love is not proud. Love is not rude. Love
never fails, though all other gifts will
cease.
Love hopes and endures; love bears and
believes. Though I give all I have to
the hungry, though I give my very life,
if I have no love, I am nothing at all.
There is no gift greater than love. There
is hope, there is faith; they will always
remain. But there is no gift greater than
love.

Hear my words O Lord I
pray, for my strength has gone away. Give
me patience now to see, that Your goodness
covers me. I must know that You still
care; that in times of deep despair, I
can reach my hand to You, and You’ll
be there.
Guide my steps when I can’t see;
help me learn to trust in Thee. Be my
shelter on the way, as I struggle toward
that day. For the strength of Your good
hand, will direct me toward the land;
and the promise You have made will lead
me there.
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
Guide my steps when I can’t see;
help me learn to trust in Thee. Be my
shelter on the way, as I struggle toward
that day. For the strength of Your good
hand, will direct me toward the land;
and the promise You have made will lead
me home.
PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING
AND INTERCESSION
*THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed
be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on
earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and
forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors; and lead us
not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. For thine is
the kingdom
and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

CHILDREN'S & FAMILY
MINISTRY, Birth-5th Grade
5. YOUNG CHILD IN WORSHIP
(age 4 - 2nd grade) provides an opportunity
for children to experience God through
an age appropriate and multi-sensory worship
service. The wooden figures, desert box
and other materials create a visual representation
of the Bible. The lighting of candles
and discussion of other church traditions
introduce children to the meaning of the
many symbols seen in the sanctuary. The
hands-on experience of the children retelling
the stories by manipulating the figures
helps the Bible lessons take shape in
their minds and hearts. Today?s lesson
on “Pentecost ” is being taught
by Linda Barto and Barb Harms.
STUDENT MINISTRIES, Grades
6-12
6. GRADUATE SUNDAY. Elfinwild will be
honoring graduates this year on Sunday.
June 8th. We would
like as many graduates to attend as possible.
It will be a great time to thank God for
what He has done, and pray for those students
as they move toward what God has next
for them. If you or someone you know will
be graduating, please contact Lora King
or Bob Wegner by Friday, May 30th, at
412-486-5400. Thanks so much.
7. THE FAMILY MINISTRY TEAM
will host a celebration of Pentecost,
the Birthday of the Church, in Fellowship
Hall during the coffee hour between services
today, May 11th. The all-church photograph
will be taken at 10:50 a.m. on the lawn
on Church Avenue.
8. BLOOD PRESSURE READINGS
will be taken today at 9:30 am in the
Kennedy Library.
9. SENIOR ACHIEVERS’
MEETING will be held on Thursday, May
15, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.
Pgh. Oldtime Radio Theatre will perform.
Bring a bag lunch. Beverage and dessert
are provided. Guests and visitors are
welcome.
10. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED. Volunteers

FAMILY on Sunday, May 18, for one last
pot-luck dinner before vacation and picnic
season begins. We will gather together
at 5:00 in Fellowship Hall. If your last
name begins with the letters A-M, please
bring a meat/casserole dish. If your last
name begins with the letters N-Z, please
bring a salad, vegetable, or side dish.
The Deacons will provide place settings,
beverages, and desserts. Save this date
on your calendar. There is no program
– just some good Elfinwild food
and fellowship.
12. THE DEACONS ARE ASKING
FOR YOUR HELP as they and the Elfinwild
Pre-school co-sponsor a cereal drive to
benefit the food bank at Calvert Church
in Etna. Many of the families serviced
by the food bank have children who receive
free or reduced cost breakfast and lunch
at school. With school almost over for
this year, we would like to build up the
cereal supply at the food bank so more
will be available for the children for
the summer months. Cereal may be brought
to the church and placed in designated
boxes in the back of the sanctuary or
by the chapel through May 18. Thank you
for your help.
13. PLEASE JOIN SCOTT BOOKER

18. DID YOU KNOW that the
Deacons will provide a meal for you and
your family if you are in need? For example,
perhaps you, or a family member that you
are caring for, are too ill to prepare
dinner for a few days. Our Hospitality
Ministry can deliver a meal to your home!
Or perhaps you have a doctor’s appointment,
but have no transportation or are unable
to drive. The Deacons’ Hospitality
Ministry is able to help.
The Deacons are here to SERVE YOU. Do
you have a need for either of these services?
If so, please call the church office,
and we will respond to you.
COMMUNITY EVENT
THE CCO PRESENTS AN EVENING
WITH
TIM KELLER OF REDEEMER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
WHEN: Thursday, May 22,
2008 at 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Carnegie Music Hall, 4400 Forbes
Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA
COST: Open to the public and free of charge
Why does God allow suffering
in the world? How could a loving God send
people to Hell? Why isn’t Christianity
more inclusive? How can one religion be
“right” and the others “wrong”?
Why have so many wars been fought in the
name of God?
If you or your friends ever
struggled with any of these questions,
you won’t want to miss this event.
As the founding pastor of
Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York
City, Timothy Keller has compiled a list
of the most frequently voiced doubts skeptics
bring to his church as well as the most
important reasons for faith. His book,
The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of
Skepticism, peaked at #6 on the New York
Times Bestseller List. In his book, Dr.
Keller “addresses each doubt and
explains each reason, using literature,
philosophy, real-life conversations, and
reasoning to explain how faith in a Christian
God is a soundly rational belief, held
by thoughtful people of intellectual integrity
with a deep compassion for those who truly
want to know the truth.”
Join the CCO in welcoming
Dr. Timothy Keller to the Carnegie Music
Hall in Oakland, situated between the
campuses of Carnegie Mellon University
and the University of Pittsburgh , at
7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2008. The
event is free of charge, so bring your
friends-skeptics, believers, cynics, and
doubters alike!
