RECAP OF EVENTS & THANK YOU

HEARTFELT THANKS & AWE
to Bev Feris for designing and creating the beautiful banner of praying hands against a stain-glass-like background. It hangs in the front of the sanctuary to inspire us as we journey through Elfinwild’s Year of Prayer.

THE DEACONS would like to thank you for participating in Operation Christmas Child. Thanks to all the individuals, couples, and families that filled 1, 2, 3 or even 4 or more shoeboxes! Thank you also to Megan Couts and her Webelos from Pack 194 for filling 5 boxes and to the co-workers of Patti Zahnhausen at UPMC for filling 10 boxes!!! Thank you to those who contributed by donating to Samaritan’s Purse! With everyone’s generosity, we were able to send 94 gift-filled shoeboxes to children all over the world to be opened at Christmas!!! We pray that as these children open their gifts and feel the love you put into preparing them, that their hearts will open as well to the greatest gift of all…Jesus.

Calvert has been able to maintain a worshipping
community through the financial and volunteer support of Elfinwild, Glenshaw, and Parkwood churches. Volunteers have cleaned, painted, moved rooms and have assisted with community outreach programs. There will be many more opportunities to assist the faith-community at Calvert as they continue to serve Christ and his Kingdom in Etna and the surrounding communities of Sharpsburg, Millvale and Laurenceville. Calvert is the only Presbyterian church left in those communities. Contact Jim Giel, Jr. and Jeff Mulkern if you wish to help or for more information. Be sure to read the entire story in the September Call.

Bread of Life Food Pantry
Nov. & Dec. are busy months for the Bread of Life Food Pantry at Calvert They continue to provide food for 150+ families/350+ individuals each month through cash and monetary donations. The recent Etna Community Food drive provided 450+ bags of food and cash donations in excess of $450 which will be used to pay for Giant Eagle and/or Shop N' Save food cards.

During the month of Dec. donations of toys and gently used coats are provided by the community as well as Kohl's Department Store and NHCO. Please consider a contributin to Bread of Life and also become a volunteer-there are many opportunities.
