RECAP
OF EVENTS & THANK YOU
HEARTFELT THANKS & AWE to
Bev Feris for designing and creating the beautiful
banner of praying hands against a stain-glass-like
background. It hangs in the front of the sanctuary
to inspire us as we journey through Elfinwild’s
Year of Prayer.
THE DEACONS would like to
thank you for participating in Operation Christmas
Child. Thanks to all the individuals, couples,
and families that filled 1, 2, 3 or even 4
or more shoeboxes! Thank you also to Megan
Couts and her Webelos from Pack 194 for filling
5 boxes and to the co-workers of Patti Zahnhausen
at UPMC for filling 10 boxes!!! Thank you
to those who contributed by donating to Samaritan’s
Purse! With everyone’s generosity, we
were able to send 94 gift-filled shoeboxes
to children all over the world to be opened
at Christmas!!! We pray that as these children
open their gifts and feel the love you put
into preparing them, that their hearts will
open as well to the greatest gift of all…Jesus.
Calvert has been able to maintain a
worshipping community
through the financial and volunteer support
of Elfinwild, Glenshaw, and Parkwood churches.
Volunteers have cleaned, painted, moved
rooms and have assisted with community outreach
programs. There will be many more opportunities
to assist the faith-community at Calvert
as they continue to serve Christ and his
Kingdom in Etna and the surrounding communities
of Sharpsburg, Millvale and Laurenceville.
Calvert is the only Presbyterian church
left in those communities. Contact Jim Giel,
Jr. and Jeff Mulkern if you wish to help
or for more information. Be sure to read
the entire story in the September Call.
