Elfinwild Presbyterian Church—A Family of Families!

Walk into worship on Sunday mornings and you will find people of all generations, birth through octogenarians, sitting shoulder to shoulder in the pews. Our social events, leadership teams, bible classes and more consist of people of all ages making connections and building relationships in the context of the Good News of God’s grace for all in Jesus Christ. You may find yourself singing praise music one week and traditional hymns another—we all in and all together. Everyone knows . . . “the family that plays together stays together.”

The following is a sampling of our playful days and our multigenerational fellowship.

Why not come along?

Church Retreats

Reserve the Weekend: January 19-20, 2019!

A rich tradition at Elfinwild Presbyterian is gathering with our “family of families” for a weekend retreat in the beautiful foothills of the Allegheny Mountains at Ligonier Camp and Conference Center. In January of 2017, 106 people participated (57 adults and 49 children/youth). It was a beautiful, snowy weekend with lots of outdoor adventure activities as well as indoor napping, eating, and fireside chats. Our retreat guest teacher was the Reverend Herb Kolbe of Coalition for Christian Outreach and the Pittsburgh Leadership Foundation. Using the scripture Jeremiah 17:7-8, we explored the theme of being Deeply Rooted in Christ. LCCC staff took excellent care of our children, leading them in outdoor fun, crafts, music, and faith building activities. It’s a weekend not to be missed! Our next retreat will take place January 19-20, 2019. Look for online registration in the fall.

Honoring Our Promises: Baptism Brunches

When children are baptized at Elfinwild Presbyterian Church, we promise to support parents as they raise their child to know God and grow in the love of Jesus Christ. As part of that promise, we host families with recently baptized children to a special morning of good food, encouragement, and support. Child care is provided for older siblings. Families enjoyed brunch on October 7th, 2017 and on March 10th, 2018. As part of this ministry, friends and members of church published a booklet of pearls of parenting wisdom. Click here to download your copy: Pearls of Wisdom from Your Elfinwild Family of Faith. The Family Ministries team is currently discussing more ways to support our young families. We’d love to hear your ideas! Contact Amy Meyer:
