For years Elfinwild
Presbyterian Church has been known as a mission-involved
church and congregation. We currently support
thirty-four missions both locally and globally.
Continued involvement with specific projects
and one time needs have ranged from financial
support for missionaries in Burma to the building
of a residence by volunteers for a needy family
in Western Pennsylvania.

The Meals on Wheels program at Elfinwild
Church has been serving the Glenshaw-Etna-Ross-O’Hara
area for 23 years. It is an active ministry
and needs volunteers to deliver meals daily
to their many clients who are elderly; homebound;
recuperating from surgery or illness.
Meals-On-Wheels was originally developed
in England during World War II. The name was
given for the obvious reason, that food was
prepared and delivered by car to the homes
of the elderly and shut-in. Here in the U.S.A.
Meals-On-Wheels began in Philadelphia in 1954.
In 1980 a new kitchen Shaler-Ross Meals-On-Wheels
was born at Elfinwild Presbyterian Church.
We served 60-75 clients hot and cold meals
five days a week.
The cold meals are a bag containing bread/butter,
sandwich, juice, dessert and milk. The hot
meal is a three compartment tray with a hot
nutritional meal. The donation required for
this service is $18.00 per week. There are
7 routes with 8-12 clients each.
There are two part time managers and a cold
bag co-ordinator.
Volunteers and donations are always needed.
The kitchen is open 7 A.M. till noon 5 days
a week. Phone 412-486-8000 if you have interest
in helping. We would love to have you join
us.
